Our previous blog described the Free File options offered by the IRS to military personnel. Recently we received a call from tax attorney Natalie Loebner to alert us to other websites to help military service members with their taxes.
The U.S. Department of Defense publishes a website as a free filing site for military personnel. Attorney Loebner noted the site is more inclusive, depending on the person’s income. The service is called MilTax. All military service members have access to Military OneSource. It is a suite of free tax services designed for military personnel to help save them money and let them efficiently file their tax return(s). MilTax includes tax preparation and e-filing software, personalized support from tax consultants, and current information about filing taxes while being part of the U.S. military. MilTax is designed to address military life with its deployments, combat and training pay, housing and rentals, and multistate tax return filings. MilTax is free for military service members. To learn more about this service, visit militaryonesource.mil.
Attorney Loebner also informed us that the U.S. Coast Guard also offers free online tax filing and consultation. The service is called CG SUPRT. CG SUPRT provides free, confidential professional consultations for taxes and other financial matters, as well as personal money coaching to help you reach your financial goals. To learn more about this service, visit www.dcms.uscg.mil/ppc/news/Article/1430800/coast-guard-support-offers-online-tax-filing-consultation/.
We give our continued thanks and gratitude to all of our military service members, past and present, and their families.
